Your company and its treasury

Where your gold lives, why some of it is pledged, and how a company becomes a corporation.

The first time you act in the world, a company is created for you. You never have to found one, and you cannot end up with two: one account, one company. It is your wallet.

Free and pledged

Your dashboard shows the treasury in two parts. Free gold is yours to spend now. Pledged gold is still yours, but it is already promised to something you started — the wages of a shift running on your land, or the escrow behind a contract you signed.

Pledged is not a fee and not a hold on your account. It is the reason the person working for you can be certain they will be paid: the money was set aside before their shift began.

Where gold comes from and goes

  • Wages you earn arrive here automatically when a shift completes.
  • Goods you sell settle here.
  • Wages you owe leave here — set aside when a worker is hired, released to them when the shift ends.
  • Every movement is recorded. Your own history is on your dashboard; the world's is in the Chronicle.

Company, enterprise, corporation

Your company is your wallet. An enterprise is a business you run — you can have several. "Corporation" is not something you buy or file for: it is a status an enterprise reaches by what it has done, and until then the same row simply reads Enterprise.

Your company has a public page of its own, so anyone can look up what it is and what it has built — the same way you can look up theirs.
